A Brixton Tale, a narrative feature film shot on location ‘around the Barrier Block and Somerleyton Estate,’ will be screened at this year’s Slamdance film festival, taking place online and in Los Angeles.

Written, performed and shot in collaboration with the community, the movie tells the story of a “voyeuristic, wealthy vlogger who finds herself being drawn to a handsome, shy youth from the infamous Barrier Block housing project.”
Directed by Darragh Carey and Bertrand Desrochers, a Brixton Tale documents how “their relationship with each other, and with the camera, leads them down a dangerous path.”

Locals will recognise many familiar faces and locations in the film.
