On Friday 16th October 2020, Brixton – along with the rest of the capital – was moved into the ‘High Tier’ of Covid-19 restrictions for London.
This means that the 10pm curfew for hospitality venues remained in place, with new rules meaning that people may continue to see friends and family they do not live with outside, including in a garden or other outdoor space, but not indoors.
We took a look around Brixton to see how venues have adapted to the changes:

Brixton Village was very busy.

The most obvious difference was that all food and drink could now only be ordered via table service.

It was great to see live music return to Hootananny, although the sound level was much lower than it would normally be.

Seating inside was socially distanced but as there was no free tables for us to sit and watch the band, we headed outside.

The venue has segregated the outdoor area into separate booths, with plenty of cover.

Heaters were placed under the covers.

If people stop acting like idiots and behaving as though the government are just bullying parents, then it can be done. We can act to stop the spread and still have a reasonably good time. BUT THEY WONT.
