Cineworld have confirmed that the Brixton Ritzy will be among the 127 Cineworld and Picturehouse theatres in the UK temporarily closing from Thursday, 8th October 2020.
There has no been no announcement as to when it may be reopen, but it seems highly unlikely anyone will be watching a film in the cinema this year.

As we reported earlier this week, the global cinema giant Cineworld bought the Picturehouse chain – which includes the Brixton Ritzy in 2012.
In an announcement to the City today, Cineworld said:
Cineworld confirms that it will be temporarily suspending operations at all of its 536 Regal theatres in the US and its 127 Cineworld and Picturehouse theatres in the UK from Thursday 8 October 2020.
As a result of these closures, forty-five thousand employees will be out of work, including about 5,500 staff in the UK and 20,000 in the US, as well as contractors such as cleaners and security workers.
Mooky Greidinger, the Cineworld chief executive and a member of the family that owns more than a fifth of the company’s shares told the Guardian:
This is not a decision we made lightly, and we did everything in our power to support safe and sustainable reopenings in all of our markets – including meeting, and often exceeding, local health and safety guidelines in our theatres and working constructively with regulators and industry bodies to restore public confidence in our industry.
Cineworld will continue to monitor the situation closely and will communicate any future plans to resume operations in these markets at the appropriate time, when key markets have more concrete guidance on their reopening status and, in turn, studios are able to bring their pipeline of major releases back to the big screen.
