Last week, supporters of Dulwich Hamlet FC expressed their solidarity for the Brixton Ritzy workers who had gone on strike as part of their demands to be paid the London Living Wage.

A large banner of support was displayed at the game, and Hamlet fans later joined workers on the picket line outside the cinema in Windrush Square.
The club has now offered free tickets to Ritzy workers for Saturday’s crucial last game of the season against play-off rivals Kingstonian at Champion Hill.

Here’s the statement from a club committee member:
As a Football Club that works hard to be a part of our local community, offering one-off match tickets is not just for local schools.
We like to show support to all strands of our community, to encourage new support for The Hamlet.
A number of our fans supported the Ritzy workers campaign for a decent Living Wage, which must have been quite a financial hardship for them and their families.
We realise that a lot of their staff will be working on Saturday when we play Kingstonian, but hope to welcome those that aren’t, for making our fans so welcome at their protest last week, after all one ‘good turn’ deserves another; and a number of our committee understand their cause, coming from trade union backgrounds at work themselves
Get behind the Hamlet!
Dulwich Hamlet play in Champion Hill, a 25 minute walk out of central Brixton, and they are at home to Kingstonian on Saturday 26th April at 3pm.
