Brixton United FC

After the closure of the temporary ice rink in Brixton, this is now nearest ice skating facility. The new Streatham Ice Rink boasts a full size 60x30m ice pad and almost 1000 seats, and offers skate lessons, ice hockey and more.
Amongst the oldest British ice hockey teams still in existence, the redskins were originally founded in 1932 as Streatham, and added the name Redskins in 1974. Once one of the leading teams in the British Hockey League, they now play in the amateur English National Ice Hockey League.
Herne Hill Velodrome
One of the oldest cycling tracks in the world, its outdoor 450 metre cycle track is the only remaining venue still in use from the 1948 Olympics.

Brixton BMX bike club
In existence since 1981, the club competes in BMX (bicycle motocross) racing, and has British Cycling qualified coaches to help riders of all ages and skills, and welcome beginners. Coaching sessions are held at the Brockwell Park BMX track on Saturday and Sunday mornings at 10am until 12, all comers are welcome.
Brixton Cycles Club
Host regular weekly rides (one for hill heroes and one for “not quite as fit as I could be” types), and regular track events.

Sports facilities in parks
A wide range of sports facilities are available in parks across Lambeth, including all weather astro, natural turf and redgra pitches, netball courts, tennis courts, bowling greens and a BMX track.

Myatt’s Field Tennis Courts are now classified as a Community Site. Community sites are ‘turn up and play’ sports facilities which do not require a booking or payment for their use.

There are four public tennis courts available in Ruskin Park which can all be booked through Lambeth Borough Council. The park tennis courts all have a macadam surface and are in reasonable condition.

Two courts in Stockwell in a much loved local park. Not quite sure how to book these ones so it’s best to try Lambeth Borough Council first.

Horse riding at the Ebony Club
The Ebony Horse Club use horses to improve the education, life skills and aspirations of disadvantaged young people, growing up in Brixton, South London. They teach riding and horse care, take groups to outdoor events, in and outside of London, and mentor children experiencing significant challenges in their everyday lives.

Stockwell Skate Park
One of the earliest and largest outdoor skateparks in London, the Stockwell park was built in the 1970s and remains hugely popular. Skateboard lessons are available.

Miguel’s Boxing Gym
Tucked away in the railway arches of Loughborough Junction you’ll find the fantastic Miguels Boxing Gym. Affiliated to the Amateur Boxing Association of England, the proferssional coaches at Miguels have already helped potential champs climb the ladder towards greater success. As well as drop in boxing sessions for men, women and children, they offer one-on-one personal training sessions, extreme fitness classes, bodyblitz exercise sessions and lots more.
