There’s a big bank holiday weekend on the way and we’ve got a cracking Easter party competition lined up with tickets to not one, but two massive Brixton roof parties at the Prince Of Wales this weekend!
First up, is Good Friday (14th April) and Get Diverted are back in Brixton to open their terrace party season with the legendary Todd Terry… a party that has been five years in the making following a chance encounter in a hotel lift in Birmingham.
Todd, of course, is one of the world’s most celebrated figures in dance music. With almost two decades of dance floor domination under his belt, the quality of Tood’s productions just keeps going from strength to strength.
In support and headlining the terrace is Get Diverted firm favourite, Terry Farley. When it comes to club culture, Terry Farley has been there, done it and bought the 12-inch. He was dressing like a punk before the punks and was dancing to rare groove before it was a revivalist scene.
Later he was partly responsible for the first article ever written about acid house and the first outdoor house music rave in the UK.
This was all a preamble to an astonishing run in the ’90s. As part of the Boy’s Own and Junior Boy’s Own collectives, he helped discover the likes of Andrew Weatherall, The Chemical Brothers, Underworld and X-Press 2, all while maintaining a notable production career with Pete Heller.
Completing the line up is Linden C, James Parker and residents Elijah Collins, Rob Alldritt, Samantha Blackburn and Le Piscine. Cabal DJ’s take over the Boudoir. Get Diverted runs from 4pm-4am at Prince Of Wales on Good Friday 14th April. Tickets cost from £20. Find out more here.
Slip along to Easter Sunday and Slide make their welcome return to a season of summer roof-top parties at the POW with Credit To The Edit with Greg Wilson & Friends…
With his signature reel to reel set up, one of Liverpool’s favourite sons, Greg Wilson has been one of the UK’s most iconic proponents of disco, funk, electro and soul since starting his DJing career in the 70s at the age of 15.
In the time since he’s held down residencies at some of the North’s most seminal dancing spots including Wigan Pier, Legend and the Haçienda, and established himself as THE man to see about a re-edit.
Greg brings his superb ‘Credit to the Edit’ series to Slide alongside fellow edit prone discophiles Henry Greenwood, Peza, and Derek Kaye. Slide’s Easter Sunday party takes place at Prince Of Wales from 3pm – 4am on Easter Sunday (16th April) and tickets currently cost from £15. Find out more here.
