Friday 10th February, SW9
Dancelovehub at Club 414
414 Coldharbour Lane, Brixton, SW9 8LF, 11pm-7am, £5/10
A long night of thumping techno, underground trance, progressive psytrance and full-on banging psy awaits in this splendid Brixton institution. The 414 has bene here for over 30 years but they’re currently battling evil plans to turn the venue into a hideous slab of posh-toff flats. We hope they win their fight, because Brixton would be much the worse for not having this long-serving, super friendly venue.
Friday 10th February, SW2
House Night at Gremio de Brixton
St. Matthew’s Church, Effra Road, Brixton, SW2 1JF, 10pm-3am, Free
Get shaking, quivering and convulsing to an evening of disco, classic and upbeat house, courtesy of DJs Alex Georgiou and Lee Harris.
Friday 10th Februay, SE19
Live Music Fridays at Westow House
79 Westow Hill, Crystal Palace, SE19 1TX, 9pm-2am, Free
As ever, the venue remains coy about who’ll be onstage, but we do know there’s a fine array of real ales at the bar at this friendly boozer. And that’s always a good start.
Friday 10th February, SE11
DJ Night at the Brown Derby
336 Kennington Park Road, Oval, SE11 4PP, 10pm-1am, Free
With a liver-troubling profusion of tempting spirits at the bar – along with some decent real ales – this retro themed bar hosts DJs spinning selections of ska, northern soul, bluegrass, country, and rock and roll.
Friday 10th February, SE17
Stevie Wonderland at Corsica Studios
5 Farrell Court, Elephant & Castle, SE17 1LB, 11pm-6am, £15
Promising a ‘love drenched, 3 room takeover’ of Corsica Studios, the Stevie Wonderland crew bring a hefty line up to the Elephant. The bill includes German selectors Session Victim, Lumberjacks in Hell’s Marcel Vogel and Mr Mendel, plus Casino Times, With Some Pulp and residents Jonny X, Ed Russo and Jonny Bottomley.
Friday 10th February, SE15
Disco Freaks Valentine’s Special at The Bussey Building
133 Rye Lane, Peckham, SE15 4ST, 10pm-5am, £10
The Disco Freaks bring a hefty chunk of funk, soul and disco fever to this Valentine’s special in Peckham. They don’t want it to be a barf-inducing night of romantic slush though, so it’ll be less Walrus of Love and more loin-thrusting floor fillers in the spirit of Studio 54.
Saturday 11th February, SW9
Audio Sushi at the Dogstar
389 Coldharbour Lane, Brixton SW9 8LQ, 10pm-4am, £5
This long serving Brixton institution remains one of the biggest parties in town, spawning vast queues up Coldharbour Lane, while party bangers are delivered by Audio Sushi DJs inside. Photo ID is needed to enter the portals of the Dogstar, so bring along your documents or heaven knows how miserable you will be.
Saturday 11th February, SE11
Duckie at the Royal Vauxhall Tavern
372 Kennington Lane, SE11 5HY, 9pm-2am, £6
One of the most provocative and funny cabaret nights in London, the long running Duckie club mixes’n’mashes burlesque and musical acts in front of an appreciative and packed gay/mixed crowd with the Readers’ Wives DJs bringing a wondrous mix of The Cure, the Smiths, Le Tigre and other loveable indie pop-tastic hits.
Saturday 11th February, SW2
Entitled To Dance at Effra Social
89 Effra Road, Brixton, SW2 1DF, 9pm-1am, Free
DJ Marcus Harris will be illuminated by this retro venue’s planet-sized mirrorball as he throws down a set of New Wave, House and Disco tunes.
Saturday 11th February, SW4
HiFi Sneakers at Bread & Roses
68 Clapham Manor Street, Clapham, SW4 6DZ, 9pm-11pm, Free
If you like your pubs Tory-free and with a bit of healthy socialism mixed in, march down to the last Trade Union boozer in Britain and get stuck into their delightful range of tasty ales. There’s decent entertainment every week, and tonight you can shake your loose bits around to the HiFi Sneakers, bringing Northern Soul and original tunes to the stage.
Saturday 11th February, SE15
Love Saves The Day at Four Quarters
187 Rye Lane, Peckham, SE15 4TP, 10pm-4am, Free
Billed as a “love letter to the dance floors, decadence and debauchery of New York City between 1975 and 1985,” this night is all about flapping limbs, clattering hooves and celebrating the great sounds that came out of Trumpland during the golden age of disco and hop hop.
Saturday 11th February, SW9
Club Night at Cafe Cairo
88 Landor Road, SW9 9PE, Free/£3
Lauded as one of Brixton Buzz’s Clubs of the Year, this independent, Eastern-themed multi-room venue has long been one of the area’s hidden gems.
Sunday 12th February, SW8
Beyond at Fire
Arch 39 Parry Street, Vauxhall, SW8 1RT, 4am, £12
This monster gay late nighter keeps the Saturday night vibes thundering into Sunday with a full on hedonistic dance party.
Sunday 12th February, SW2
Live Jazz at the Effra Hall Tavern
Kellett Road, Brixton, SW2, 8pm, Free
Old school Brixtonites may lament the growing homogenisation of this traditional boozer tucked away from the main drag, but their Sunday jazz sessions are still one of the best places to wind down after a mad weekend. Grab yourself a Guinness or three and let those silky smooth horn parpings and freeform fretboard excursions banish all thoughts of the upcoming week of work.
Sunday 12th February, SW16
Live Jazz at the Trio Pizzeria
19 The High Parade, Streatham, SW16 1EX, 8pm-midnight, Free
Chomp tasty slices of pizza and grind your pepper mill in time to top notch live jazz at this intimate restaurant, a mere five minutes perambulation from Streatham Hill train station.

Grass Roots Live Music at Club 414
414 Coldharbour Lane, Brixton, SW9 8LF, 6pm-1am, Free
