Clubbish Gyms? Ministry Of Sound has launched it’s first ever gym – Ministry Does Fitness

South London super club Ministry of Sound has launched its first ever gym under the snappy banner – The Arches – Where Ministry Does Fitness.

The purpose built training studio will be adjacent to the famous nightspot in Elephant & Castle and will have its own fully licensed bar.

A gym in a club makes a lot of sense – working up a sweat to pounding dance music is what a lot of people are doing in a traditional gym anyway, just with their earphones plugged in.

Brixton’s Club 414 and Dogstar have both hosted midweek Boxercise and Ravercise classes in the past, as I’m sure many other club venues have – the difference here is that the Ministry’s space is kitted out with proper gym equipment  – treadmills, kettlebells, weights, TRX and benches.

It kicks off with five classes running six days a week…

Music-wise, it’s all hooked up to the same state of the art club sound system as the club and has launched with a promise to never play the same playlist twice.

It seems like a smart move for the global music mega-brand (which sold its record label to Sony last summer) especially when ravers have been spilling out of the club a few pounds lighter and drenched in sweat for over two decades anyway.

The Arches – Where Ministry Does Fitness is open now and based in Arches 80 and 81, Newington Court, Elephant and Castle, SE1 6DD.

Classes cost £14 per session with discounts available for group packages.
