I was honoured to have been invited to DJ the Brixton Come Together free festival in Windrush Square in Brixton yesterday, and managed to grab a few photos between spinning tunes.
Yesterday’s all-day event event was themed as ‘Bringing our Community Together in Diversity,’ with the organisers teaming up with It’s Your Local Market to present DJ sets, live music, world food, workshops, talks, healthy eating, yoga and activism in Windrush Square.
Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to make it until the evening, but I’d heard good reports about the festival throughout the day.
Unlike Brixton Splash – which now has a London-wide appeal and attracted vast crowds before being axed by Lambeth Council – Brixton Come Together is very much a smaller, more local affair, but still hugely enjoyable.
The organisation was excellent too – well done to all involved!
Despite temperatures hovering around the chilly 5 degrees mark, there was a good crowd ready to party away until the event closed at 9pm.
Here’s some photos taken from the DJ booth.
