Brixton Guinness Trust residents pledge to resist all eviction attempts, action planned for Thurs 19 Feb

Lambeth Housing Activists (LHA) and residents fighting to stop proposed evictions from Guinness Trust properties in Loughborough Park, Brixton are planning an action on Thursday Feb 19th, at 9.30am.

Billed as ‘Resist eviction – Stop bailiffs evicting a family,’ supporters are urged to gather outside Elveden House, Loughborough Pk, SW9 8NN, where one property has been occupied in protest.

Campaigners also intend to continue their protests outside the adjacent Guinness Housing Office every morning at 9am, although yesterday they found that the office was locked, prompting this statement from LHA:

When we protested this morning at the Guinness office it remained locked – the staff were told to stay at home rather than face questions from their own tenants.

We will keep going back until they face up to tenants. How can Guinness defend their actions sending bailiffs to evict a family onto the street and be so cowardly to refuse to even face those people in person?

LHA are looking for people to volunteer to be on a rota to ensure that there is always someone in the occupied flat, and they are also asking people to tweet their support using these tags:  #guinnessoccupation and #housingaction.

Campaigners will also be holding occupation meetings every day at 7pm at 82 Elveden Hse, Loughborough Park, SW9 8NN, and everyone is invited to attend.
