VCR – Brixton’s only VJ music night – is celebrating a year staging parties featuring videos as well as music at Electric Social.
The brainchild of two local DJs, BRXTNFNK, AKA Mark Stangroom and Tom Central AKA Tom Miller, VCR aims to marry beats and videos together in the club for an eye-popping experience.
To celebrate a year since its inception VCR are taking over both floors of Electric Social and have invited down a number of London’s best DJs.
Robin Hexstatic has pushed the boundaries of audio-visual performance for decades, winning many awards and developing VJing alongside veterans Coldcut.
Robin will be performing the classic video Acid House set which stole the show at this year’s Solid Steel 25th Anniversary party. Also spinning a DJ set will be Mr Beatnick from the Don’t Be Afraid label.
Holding it down for all female DJs is Josey Rebelle from Rinse FM with a set ranging from soul to house. Paraguayan house act LPZ also spin a VJ set, and the residents Tom and Mark also take a turn on the decks themselves.
Completing the line up is Echaskech’s Mach V, providing extra video backdrops. Congratulations to the following for Brixton Buzz readers who each win a pair of tickets to the VCR party tonight…
VCR’s 1st birthday takes place on Good Friday 18th April 9pm-3am at Electric Social, 40 Acre Lane, Brixton, SW2 5SP. Tickets cost £3/£5/£7 and can be bought here: http://www.residentadvisor.net/event.aspx?572924
