How Does It Feel To Be Loved is one of Brixton’s longest running club nights, and has now been putting on shows at the Canterbury Arms for over a decade.
Sadly, there’s a chance that last Friday night’s club night may prove to be their last at this lovely old venue as developers encircle the building with plans to demolish the pub and replace it with a 9 storey block of flats.
The next How Does It Feel night is scheduled for February 2014, and there’s considerable uncertainty as to whether the pub will still be around then.
Despite the dark clouds on the horizon, there was plenty of happy go-go moves to be seen on Friday night as the Actionettes performed a lively set of 60s-based dances in front of an enthusiastic crowd.

The dance troupe can next be seen in Brixton on Thursday 12th December at the Electric Brixton – more info here.

Posting on Facebook , club founder Ian Watson – who we interviewed last year – offered his thoughts on what may prove to be the last time he’ll host his night at the Canterbury Arms:
What a lovely, joyous night at the Canterbury Arms last night. Everything just clicked for me – friendly faces, inspired requests, the wondrous Actionettes, dancing everywhere, singing, clapping, smiling, the Brixton magic in the air.
And a firm handshake and a heartfelt Merry Christmas from the good folk at the Canterbury at the end of the night. If this really is it, then we went out on the highest of highs.
