Something for the weekend? Here’s our all nighter’s guide to Brixton featuring the local pubs, clubs and bars that stay buzzin’ after 3am at the weekend…
Atlantis bar: 15 Atlantic Road Brixton, London SW9 8HX. Tel: 020 7737 6777 – currently closed
Nestling in a railway arch under Brixton railway station, this bar is a bit bigger than it looks, with a lounge at the back. It’s usually one of the last bars to close in town – so it can get a bit messy! The Atlantis stays open till 3am in the week and until 6am on Fridays and Saturdays with regular DJ sets to get down to. Note: the bar is currently being refurbished (August 2014).

A homely club spread over two floors with a terrace roof garden and friendly staff and punters. Club 414 is well renowned for having the best dance vibes in Brixton and is usually open until 7am on Friday and Saturday nights, and often goes on until 9am or 10am too.

Dogstar: 389 Coldharbour Lane, London SW9 8LQ Tel: 0207 733 7515 – open till 4am.
Offering reasonably priced beers and lagers (and a fine line in shots) this can be a lively place on a Thursday night. There’s usually DJs playing and some folks busting a few moves on the dance floor.
The staff are lovely and the music is usually a jaunty enough mix for a Thursday night , although recently attendances have been falling.
Word of warning though: you will need produce valid photo ID or you won’t get in. The Dogstar is listed as staying open till 2am on Thursdays and 4am on Fridays and Saturdays when the great Jeffrey Disastronaut is at the controls with a second party usually going off upstairs. [Dogstar What’s On]

The Jamm is nearly always open until 6am on Fridays and Saturdays.
Phonox: 418 Brixton Road, Brixton, London, SW9 7AY Tel: 0207 733 0926 – open till 4am
Sporting an almighty sound system, Phonox took over the premises of the former Plan B club and sports an almighty soundsystem. Playing a range of dance music covering house, techno, disco and d’n’b, the club is open from 10pm to 4am, with free entry before 10pm
Prince Of Wales 467-469 Brixton Road, Brixton, London, SW9 8LQ 8HH – open till 6am (upstairs club nights)
Prince of Wales on Brixton Road has previously been known as The Lambeth, Brixton Clubhouse and Dex.
Returning to its former moniker (although it was originally the Prince Of Wales Hotel back in 1910), the venue is now operating under one name and brand and has relaunched itself as a restaurant downstairs.
Event-wise the focus upstairs is live music, live comedy and community lead events throughout the week, and some great club nights at the weekends.
The glamorous club nights on Fridays and Saturdays draw pretty big DJ names such as Normany Jay, Jazzie B and Grandmaster Flash and the summer parties out on the impressive roof terrace are definitely worth a visit.
As long as there is a club night on at the weekend, the club usually goes on until 6am
Queen’s Head: 144 Stockwell Road, Stockwell SW9 9TQ
No longer a late bar.
As always, these times are subject to change so we strongly advise you always check with the venue you’re visiting first.
