On 8th January 1947 Margaret Mary Peggy Jones (an usherette at the local cinema) gave birth to a son, David Robert Jones. He was born in the family home at number 40 Stansfield Road, Brixton, London, SW9 9RZ.
Currently the face of the £10 Brixton note, David changed his surname name to Bowie & went on to become one of the world’s most innovative & iconic recording artists, pioneering the birth of Glam Rock and constantly morphing through styles, personas and genres with every decade.
Today David Bowie celebrates his 66th birthday by releasing a brand new single ‘Where Are We Now’. See the YouTube video for it below…
But what is Brixton’s favourite David Bowie song of all time?? We thought we’d put it to the vote…here are five of Bowie’s finest tracks in our opinion, but which is best – you decide!
1. Life On Mars?…
2. Starman…
3. Space Oddity…
4. Let’s Dance…
5. Heroes…
AND THE WINNER IS…Well, it seems like a draw for now & Brixton’s TWO favourite Bowie tracks are HEROES (above) & the publically voted wild card entry REBEL REBEL (below)…
Here’s to you Mr Jones… Brixton salutes you!

Tough call. I’d say “Heroes” from the 5 above!
Ziggy Stardust!
Life On Mars. Fucking wierd videos
It has to be Heroes!
Wat about that shit jungle track he did
Life on Mars out of those 5; however, Memory of a Free Festival wins it for me.
My fave is Five Years or Queen Bitch. From this selection I would have to say Life On Mars. Collaboration wise, it would be Under Pressure.
Happy Birthday Mr. Bowie
Rebel Rebel… But from those ^ it’s gotta be Heroes…
HEROES! X
Definitely ‘Rock’n'roll Suicide’. But from this list, Rebel Rebel. That’s my tuppen’orth..
