Featured Gig: Mrs Mills Experience world premiere at Offline Club at The Prince Albert: Friday 1st June

On Friday 1st June Brixton will be treated to the world premiere of one of the hottest new bands in London, the incredible, all-conquering Mrs Mills Experience!

Rolling out a barrel of irony-untroubled, hipster-free, good time entertainment, the Mrs Mills Experience is made up of an unlikely combination of Brixton-based dance DJs and punk musicians united by their improbable love of piano-thumper extraordinaire, Mrs Gladys Mills.

Delivering a variety pack of authentic, working class singalong tunes, the Mrs Mills Experience aims to make the audience the star, unleashing a salvo of good time music for these austerity stricken times.

Such was the buzz behind this new outfit that a prestigious Saturday night slot at this year’s Vintage Festival was secured – without the band even recording a demo – and the BBC will be filming them playing live at a special show at the Brixton Dogstar on June 30th.

The Mrs Mills Experience make their much hyped debut at the Urban 75 hosted Offline Club at The Prince Albert. Accompanying the Mrs Mills Experience on selected songs onstage will be an army of ukulele players from the Dulwich Ukulele Club.

The band will be onstage at 11.20pm – get there early because it’s going to be packed – and it’s free entry all night too!

Atomics are here

Garage Punk Rock renegades Atomic Suplex join the madness as co-headliners for the night as well as the usual crew of hard drinking, record spinning DJs playing party-sized earfuls of ska, electro, punk, rock’n’roll, Motown, dancehall, big band, Thin Lizzy, Beyonce and rockabilly.

If you can’t make it along to their debut, you can also catch the Mrs Mills Experience live in East London’s Smithfield Market on Saturday afternoon where they’ll be providing a live soundtrack to the Nocturne Series 2012 bike races – including playing along to the incredible Brooks Penny Farthing Race at 5pm.

Their following gig will be on the Tamesis Dock boat on the River Thames on Thursday 21st June, with all-girl go-go troupe The Actionettes providing the moves in a nautical themed evening of entertainment.

Finally, the band will be bringing the full Mrs Mills honky-tonk pub piano thunder to a packed dancefloor back at Brixton’s legendary dance venue, The Dogstar on Saturday 30th June.
