Brixton’s famous Offline Club sets sail for Albert Embankment, Vauxhall this Thursday as we’re all invited aboard The Go Go Dancing Mrs. Mills Barge (Tamesis Dock).
After their explosive debut performance at The Prince Albert, Brixton, the reinvented music hall singalong sensation, Mrs Mills Experience will be making a splash in Vauxhall when they take over the good ship Tamesis Dock on the River Thames for a huge free party on Thursday night.
Rolling out a barrel of irony-untroubled, hipster-free, good time entertainment, the Mrs Mills Experience is made up of an unlikely combination of Brixton-based dance DJs and punk musicians united by their improbable love of piano-thumper extraordinaire, Mrs Gladys Mills.
Delivering a variety pack of authentic, working class singalong tunes, the Mrs Mills Experience aims to make the audience the star, unleashing a salvo of good time music for these austerity stricken times. Expect a full on party atmosphere, with party hats, streamers and singalongs!
This new band have already been making huge waves, securing a prestigious Saturday night slot at this year’s Vintage Festival (before they’d even recorded a demo!) and attracting the attention of the BBC who will be filming them in action for a documentary.
They will be joined by the all-girl go-go troupe The Actionettes, providing a tidal wave of dance moves in a nautical-themed evening of entertainment and we’ve been told to keep a look out for the Mermaid Morris dancing!
Fiesty, friendly, fun and fiercely anti-conformist, The Actionettes manage to cause a stir wherever they go, with their unique style, infectious enthusiasm, high-octane performances and general joie de vivre.
As seen on Charlie Brooker’s TV show and BBC2’s Culture Show, these stars of Ladyfest and Vintage 2012 count Jarvis Cocker as a fan and are not to be missed!
As well as the live entertainment, there will also be a host of Offline DJs playing party-sized earfuls of skiffle, ska, bawdy tunes, music hall and tonnes more party tunes from 7pm to keep the boat rocking until 1am.
